Elecampane is a tall, impressive plant with large leaves, (up to 60cm long), and large yellow flowers which are loved by Bumblebees.
It does take a couple of years to reach full size and it's likely it won't produce flowers in its first year but it is worth waiting for.
Elecampane has also been called Elf Wort, Elf Dock and Horse Heal. The root has been used in herbal medicine to treat respiratory disorders and up until the early 20th century, was used as a flavouring for sweets.
Elecampane attracts / provides food for the following creatures:
- Bees
- Hoverflies
- Ground Beetles
All our seed packets include sowing instructions.
