Also known as Cool Tankard and Tailwort, Borage has bright blue starry flowers throughout the summer which are loved by bees.
It is often grown around field edges by farmers to attract pollinators to crops and will flower for months in your garden. It will often set seed and self-seeded and direct sown plants seem to be much sturdier than inside sown/transplanted plants.
The hairy leaves have a cucumber flavour and can be added to drinks such as Pimms, (as can the edible flowers which look great frozen into ice cubes.
